AVIX SMED Basics

If you're familiar with the theory of SMED analysis, you will find It really easy to create a SMED analysis In AVIX. In this video we show how to create the analysis and printing a changeover Instruction. It Is not a requirement, but note that you can easily create a "present vs. future state" scenario. It can be really Interesting to compare and show the difference.

EXCERSICE

Use the video LB25_tool_change.mp4 and create a SMED analysis. Start by creating the different process steps carried out by the operator, then separate/classify what Is Internal and external process steps. Finally move/balance external process steps to be outside the machine downtime.

Use the data you've created and print a changeover work instruction.

As an additional exercise, use the data created and try adding a second human resource to test a scenario with two operators.

CREATING A CHANGEOVER SMED INSTRUCTION

In the video above we created a simple changeover instruction. Here we show how to create a more detailed changeover Instruction using the second SMED Instruction template in AVIX.

You can also have a look at this video showing how to create a work Instruction using AVIX Method - The same features and functions are available in AVIX SMED

EXERCISE

Create a changeover Instruction using the data you have already created, or use the AVIX-file LB25_changeover.avx4

Use the images provided the folder "Process data" and add required tools, parts, pictures, notes. Generate a PDF changeover Instruction, or use one of the other output formats.

CREATING VARIATIONS OF CHANGEOVERS

Sometimes changeovers will be completely different from each other with no similarity, or always look the same - But, digging Into the area of changeover/maintenance operations, most will realize that most maintenance/SMED operation could be divided In e.g. a big, medium and small changeover.

This Is Important to realize, because It means you can save time by creating the data In AVIX. Instead of creating a complete analysis of each type separately, you can analyse the big set-up and make variations of It. In reality it simply means removing process steps not done In the medium and small set-up. (or maybe adding a few unique steps video recorded separately)

In AVIX SMED you can utilize the same feature as In AVIX Resource Balance called variants (variations).

In this video we show how easy It Is to creates multiple set-ups from the same data. This also means you can easily print maintenance/changeover Instruction for multiple set-up types.

EXCERSICE

Use the data you have already created, or use the AVIX-file LB25_changeover.avx4 and create to set-up types using variant management In AVIX.
