This is a description of the AVIX philosophy and coloring system and it’s a good idea to understand this regardless if you are going to use stopwatch time analysis or standard time analysis.

Based on the classic and widely accepted lean philosophies, there are a number of critical losses occurring in the production environment:

Waiting: Caused by resetting, bad process flow or internal balancing losses (one operator waits for the other).

|||||

Unnecessary movements/transportation and handling:
Caused by bad workstation layout, assembling method or design. |
|||||

Defects/Quality problems:
Re-work caused by a bad method or production process. |
