Operations - How is it Done?

A process task contains a number of naturally connected operations which are the lowest level in the Method tree structure.
The operation is created by selecting a task and pressing. image-1647282662789.png

At the operation level, the Standard time analysis is performed, either by the AviXAVIX analysis palette (A,B,C,D) or by e.g. SAM or UAS.

Example:

Example
  • Task
    • Assemble Headlights
  • Operations
    • Take headlight
    • Take screwdriver
    • Assemble headlight
    • Place screwdriver
    • Affix headlight with screwdriver
    • Return screwdriver

In AVIX, an operation is defined as the shortest handling, i.e. more or less each movement, carried out in the process.

Example
  • Take part
  • Place or affix part
  • Handle part
A new Operation should always be added when:
  • A new activity starts
  • Handling of a new part
  • Handling of a new production aid/tool

Within one operation it is only possible to handle one tool/part. If multiple tools or parts are being used, the operation must be split into several operations.

Note, it is easier to analyze when the handling is split into several operations. Using more operations means that each operation contains fewer movements and is, therefore, easier to analyze.
