Getting started
There are different ways to work with AVIX. A simple approach could be to use the method tree and plain stopwatch analysis while a more advanced and structured approach could be to use standardized process libraries analyzed using standard time (MTM-SAM-UAS).
If you are uncertain or haven’t decided how to work with AVIX, follow these steps to get going.
Recommended steps
If you prefer, have a look at our video manuals (screen recordings) showing how to use AVIX step-by-step.step, here Video instructions
- Get to know AVIX, read about the AviX philosophy and the coloring system to get “the big picture”.
- Get familiar with AVIX and film a selected and limited area, so it initially doesn't become too much (Method layout and Filming).
- Split the movie into tasks and time them using Stopwatch time (here)
- During your work, make Notes in AVIX in order to work with improvements.
Print the “Action report” to use as an action list for improvements. - Make a basic analysis using the AviX philosophy and coloring system to find and eliminate waste. Lacking the time and resources, you could skip this step now and do it later. In that case, you will only have stopwatch times and no coloring in your result (method result pie chart).
- Use the “task grouping” function to get a clean and good level of detail in your Method tree.
- Use the data you have gathered to create work instructions and add pictures if needed.
- The next level; Go on and learn more about how to use standard time analysis in AVIX
(Chapter "AVIX standard time analysis").
As stated earlier, this is the basics in AVIX and much of the functionality is shared among other program modules.
